This is my go-to marinara sauce recipe. I use it for all things Italian, and love to have it on hand to drizzle over zucchini ribbons with some Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs when I need a quick lunch or dinner. There’s only a few ingredients, so it’s easy to make and budget friendly. I… Read more »

I feed my son Applegate Organic turkey breast for lunch and used to eat it myself until I started SCD. It’s so close to legal, but they use Carrageenan (From Seaweed) and also feed their poultry a diet of soy, corn and other grains. My sister and I have been snacking on turkey roll-ups (lunch… Read more »

I was in the mood for a warm fruit dessert the other night and was very happy when these hot baked apples came out of the oven. I just wish I would have had time to make some coconut ice cream to go with them. Next time! If you’re still having symptoms, don’t eat the… Read more »

I make SCD legal yogurt every week, but occasionally I have a bad batch come out. The yogurt itself isn’t bad, but it has a grainy consistency. I think it happens when I’m pressed for time and I bring the milk to a boil too quickly.  I have a weird issue with the textures of… Read more »

I have always loved a good chicken parmesan. I’m Italian and love the food of the culture in all it’s grainy glory.  While I’ve had a gradual decent from the traditional white pasta (went to brown rice pasta first for the few years before I went SCD), I still miss it.  My husband used to… Read more »

I’ve had a lot of questions about baking with almond flour, so I thought I’d do a little intro to it for those of you who have never baked with it before. The obvious reason I use it is because I eat a grain-free diet. There’s also a lot of health benefits, which I’ll go… Read more »

This dish uses saffron infused water and other spices to flavor cauliflower that has been grated to resemble a rice consistency. Cauliflower is rich in nutrients and flavor, but low in calories and zero fat, so it’s a great grain-free and low carb alternative to rice…! I serve it with my Chicken Tikka Masala, but… Read more »

I LOVE Indian food, especially this Paleo Chicken Tikka Masala! Seeing that most Indian recipes use heavy cream and lots of spicy flavors, my gut stopped loving it the traditional way. So SCD made me start experimenting with different types of milk. And I find that Indian spices can be used in moderation without making… Read more »

Update on the Almond Flour Banana Muffins below: I got extremely ill about 9 months after giving birth to my son Asher (born 8/18/10). Eating a regular diet did not cause symptoms while I was pregnant, but unfortunately caught up to me later and my body shut down. It was one of the worst flare… Read more »

I use the same sauce recipe for both my zucchini lasagna and spaghetti squash. It takes a few hours to boil down the tomato juice to get an appropriate consistency, but it is very worth it! You can double the recipe and freeze half of the sauce for later use.

This dish, traditionally served with potatoes, is actually very satisfying served on a bed of sauteed spinach. Instead of using a starch to thicken the sauce, I pureed some of the vegetables that were cooked and added them back in to give the sauce more of a gravy consistency. It’s cooked in your crockpot,… Read more »

During the holidays, it’s pretty hard as an SCDer to stick to the plan. To help with my propensity to cheat and go off the diet, I played around with an existing PB Cookie recipe and substituted SCD friendly ingredients making gluten free peanut butter cookies. If you’ve never baked with almond flour before, I’ll… Read more »

I was running out of options for breakfast items that were quick before work, so I came up with these mini egg frittatas. I make a large batch of them every couple of weeks and individually freeze them so I can pop one in the microwave. The trick it to slightly under-bake them so they… Read more »
